Security cameras from a Raleigh convenience store have captured what could be images of four men who might have information about the shooting and home invasion in North-East Shelby County two weeks ago. Sheriff’s detectives need help identifying the men.

About 6 o’clock on the morning of March 19 four men kicked in the back door of a house in the 5600 block of Dedo Circle South. A woman who lived there and two other women visiting her were tied up and forced into a closet.

Not long after that, the homeowner, Dennis Dunning, 44, returned to the house. He was shot several times when he walked in the front door. Dunning was critically injured and remains in The Regional Medical Center.

Witnesses believe the assailants drove a maroon Dodge Stratus. Security cameras at a convenience store near the victim’s home showed four men get out of a maroon Stratus, enter the store, and buy some items. Some of men wore dark clothing. One had on a white shirt. Another had dreadlocks. All the men appeared to be in their teens or early twenties.

Four pictures of the persons of interest and the vehicle are being sent with this news release in separate e-mail files. A DVD of the surveillance video is available at the Public Affairs Office on the 9th floor of 201 Poplar.
