Shelby County Sheriff’s Office To Honor Deputies Promoted To Command Positions

Shelby County Sheriff Mark Luttrell will hold a ceremony for seven officers who have been selected for promotions in the law enforcement division of the Sheriff’s Office.

“The promotions reflect the outstanding commitment these Deputies have made to bring the Sheriff’s Office to new levels of accountability and professionalism,” said Sheriff Luttrell.

The promotion ceremony will be held on Friday, December 10, 2004, at 6 p.m., at the Sheriff’s Office Training Academy, 993 Dovecrest.

Those being promoted had to pass rigorous written examinations and go before a citizen review board. Each promotion candidate’s work history was reviewed as well as his/her attendance record. Additionally, the finalists had to appear before the review panel and present their leadership ideas for the Sheriff’s Office.

Here are those Deputies who will be promoted:

• Captain Steve Crouch, assigned to the General Investigation Bureau (detectives), hired in 1975, will be promoted to Inspector

• Lieutenant Bill Sears, assigned to Narcotics, hired in 1970, will be promoted to Captain

• Lieutenant Terry Yarbrough, assigned to the Patrol Division, hired in 1985, will be promoted to Captain

• Sergeant Gloria White, assigned to General Investigation Bureau (detectives), hired in 1980, will be promoted to Lieutenant

• Sergeant Cecil Booker, assigned to the Fugitive Division, hired in 1981, will be promoted to Lieutenant

• Sergeant Ernest Long, assigned to the Patrol Division, hired in 1982, will be promoted to Lieutenant

• Sergeant Jackie Setliff, assigned to the Patrol Division, hired in 1972, will be promoted to Lieutenant
