Next week marks the beginning of new entrance procedures to the Criminal Justice Center at 201 Poplar Avenue in downtown Memphis. On Monday, October 31, 2005, visitors and employees will begin using separate entrances.

Public Entrances

On Washington Avenue, the two doors nearest the sidewalk will lead visitors down the steps to the Lower Level of the building.

The other public entrance on Washington Avenue will be near the jail behind the Trinity Lutheran Church.

On Poplar Street, visitors may enter the door near the jail.

Employee Entrances

There will be two doors for Criminal Justice Center employees to enter the building, one on Washington Avenue and the other on Poplar Avenue.

Both entrances will be near Third Street.

Disabled Visitors and Employees

There will be four entrances designated for the disabled. Two will be on Washington Avenue and two on Poplar Avenue. Sheriff’s Office Homeland Security Division personnel will direct those with special needs to the appropriate entrance.
