Illegal Music CDs and Movies Seized During Sting

Robert WillisOfficers with the Metro Gang Unit assisted by deputies with the A.L.E.R.T. (Area Law Enforcement Retail Teams) Task Force arrested a Memphis man yesterday afternoon who attempted to sell pirated music CDs and movies.

Undercover officers received a tip that Robert Willis, 38, of Memphis, possessed the CDs and movies. Officers then witnessed Willis attempt to sell some of the music CDs in the parking lot of a convenience store near Macon at Wells Station in East Memphis.

Investigators say Willis had 125 CDs in his vehicle which in street value are worth more than $2,000. Officers also found several pirated movies in the car.

Willis was charged with criminal simulation, which is a felony. At the time of his arrest, Willis was already awaiting trial on three other criminal simulation charges.
