Shelby County Sheriff's detectives have charged three people in connection with the shooting death of a man earlier this week in the Kerrville area in North Shelby County near Millington.

Deputies in the General Investigation, Patrol and Street Crimes Bureaus combined their resources to investigate the case.

Detectives have charged Sanford Ruffin, 52, of Millington, Gerry Tallant, 54, of Pontotoc, Mississippi, and Tallant's daughter, Tracy Tallant, 23, who lived in the house where the murder happened.

David Williams, 29, of Memphis was shot to death last Monday evening, April 23 at 9229 Kerrville-Rosemark Road.

Deputies say Williams often stayed at the house.

Williams’ body was found by Sheriff’s Deputies about 9:30.

On the night of the murder, Tracy Tallant drove to the Millington Police Department and told officers she and Williams had argued and she wanted him to leave the house.

With Tallant’s house being outside the Millington City Limits, Shelby County Sheriff's Deputies were contacted. Deputies met Tallant at the Millington Police Department and went with her back to her home.

Once inside, Deputies found Williams’ body. He had been shot several times. No other people were in the house.

Investigators now believe Tracy Tallant and her father conspired with Ruffin to kill Williams.

Gerry Tallant was upset that Williams was often living at the house with his daughter.

Detectives say Gerry Tallant and Sanford Ruffin went to the house and shot Williams.

Deputies believe Tracy Tallant assisted in the killing by making sure Williams was alone in the house and that his pistol was not loaded when her father and Ruffin confronted him Monday night.

Gerry Tallant and Sanford Ruffin have both been charged with First Degree Murder. Tracy Tallant has been charged with Facilitation of a Felony To Wit First Degree Murder.

This is the third homicide investigated by Sheriff's Deputies so far this year.
