Top Memphis Law Enforcement Leaders Release New Report Showing High-Quality Pre-Kindergarten Cuts Crime
Release Date: July 13, 2004
Tennessee needs more funding from Washington to reach all at-risk kids.
On Wednesday top Memphis law enforcement leaders Shelby County District Attorney General Bill Gibbons, Director James Bolden of the Memphis Police Department and Sheriff Mark Luttrell of Shelby County, will release a new report showing that high-quality pre-kindergarten cuts crime.
At a news conference at the Early Childhood Education Center/SWTCC in Memphis, the group will show that federal funding is inadequate to help Tennessee reach all at-risk kids in the state. Law enforcement officials will call on Congress to increase funding for high-quality pre-kindergarten programs so all Tennessee families have access.
