Kiwanis Club Honors Shelby County Deputy

The Kiwanis Club of Memphis named Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Russell Duvall today as “Memphis Deputy of the Year” at a banquet at the Peabody Hotel.

The Kiwanis Club honors a Deputy every year for exemplary service to the community.

“We are grateful to the Kiwanis Club for honoring Deputy Duvall. He is an excellent officer and truly exemplifies the professional standards of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office,” said Shelby County Sheriff Mark Luttrell, Jr.

Deputy Duvall, 52, of Arlington, is a Traffic Crash Investigator assigned to the Traffic Bureau of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office. He has served in the Traffic Bureau since 1995. He joined the Sheriff’s Office in 1989. Before being a full-time Deputy, Officer Duvall served as a Reserve Deputy.

Along with his duties as a crash investigator, Deputy Duvall is a Certified Instructor at the Sheriff’s Office Training Academy and also teaches traffic crash courses at other schools.

“Officer Duvall is a dedicated officer and is heavily relied upon by the command staff. He has proven to be a role model and readily available for any task. His work associates in the Traffic Bureau express their gratitude to him for his commitment and dedication,” said Deputy Duvall’s commanders.

Additionally, Deputy Duvall’s expertise has gained him the distinction of being an “Expert Witness” in federal, state and local courts.
