Burglar Strikes Lakeland Neighborhoods — 8 Homes Burglarized Yesterday

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office has stepped up patrols in areas of Lakeland as a result of eight home burglaries within blocks of each other yesterday.

The homes are in neighborhoods just south the Lakeland Outlet Mall off Canada Road.

Sheriff’s detectives say two homes on Shadow Green Lane and Woodland Grove Drive were broken into. Other break-ins happened on Woodland Crest Drive, Kingsridge Drive, Woodland Birch and Woodland Pine Drive.

Investigators say the person or persons responsible for the crimes followed a pattern of kicking in a door at the houses and then searching for cash, jewelry and other items which might be easily sold.

No one was at home during the burglaries. Additional deputies will be patrolling Lakeland neighborhoods in both marked and unmarked vehicles.
