Lakeland Man Found Murdered At His Home

Shelby County Sheriff’s Office detectives say the body of a Lakeland man was found today after someone apparently broke into his home.

Detectives say Archie Barkley, 37, who lived at 4030 Canada Road, was discovered by his parents just after 1:30 this afternoon. 

When Barkley’s mother arrived, she found the backdoor had been forced open.  She then called her husband to the home.  Once inside, the couple found their son’s body.

Sheriff's detectives say Mr. Barkley appears to have died from gunshot wounds.

Detectives have not yet determined a motive for the murder or whether anything was taken from the home.
