Sheriff’s Office to open mini substation at Lakeland City Hall

Release Date: April 9, 2003

Shelby County Sheriff Mark Luttrell, Jr. announced today that a mini substation will be placed inside Lakeland City Hall. “We wanted to bring the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office closer to those we serve. Having an office at Lakeland City Hall will help us be in routine contact with those who live and work in this town,” said Sheriff Luttrell.

Deputies will be able to visit the substation to write incident reports and visit with citizens who may have information about crime in their neighborhood. Materials will also be on display that will outline the many different community programs offered by the Sheriff’s Office Crime Prevention Unit. The Lakeland City Hall substation will be the second one for that community. The other location is at the shopping mall at Canada Road at Interstate 40.

“This is an example of the partnerships we are establishing with neighborhoods throughout Shelby County. This office in Lakeland will allow our deputies to help identify crime trends and quickly address them,” said Sheriff Luttrell.

The ribbon cutting ceremony for the new substation in Lakeland will be held on Friday, April 11, 2003 at 10001 Highway 70. The event will start at 10:00 a.m.
