Release Date: December 20, 2007

Dexter Middle and Elementary Schools were locked down for about two hours today as Shelby County Sheriff's Deputies searched for three men responsible for breaking into a Cordova home.

Just after noon, a burglar alarm sounded at a house in the 6900 block of Bellevue Trace. No one was home and a concerned neighbor walked over to investigate. The neighbor saw two men run out the front door. One man got into a maroon Nissan that was parked in the driveway. The suspect and his driver sped away. The other man ran into some woods.

As Sheriff’s Deputies and search dogs looked for the suspect, no one was able to enter or leave Dexter Middle and Elementary Schools. Deputies called off their search after a couple of hours.

About two o’clock, Deputies spotted the other suspects’ get-away car at a house in the 4400 block of Brickwood Lane in Raleigh. Sheriff’s detectives have detained two men. However, no charges have been filed. Deputies are still looking for the other suspect.

Anyone with information about the home burglary in Cordova is asked to call the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division at (901) 545-5600 or Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH (2274).
