Man Arrested By Sheriff’s Deputies For Robbing Memphis Deli Last Week Now Linked To Other Robberies in South-East Shelby County

Antwone MajorsDeputies who spotted a man running from an East Memphis deli last Thursday night has now been linked to possibly several other robberies during the past several months.

Today, Sheriff’s Detectives charged Antwone Majors, 26, of Memphis, with Criminal Attempt to Wit Aggravated Robbery in connection with a chicken restaurant robbery last summer on Hacks Cross Road.

Alert Sheriff’s Deputies from the Fugitive Division were cruising last week near Poplar and Mendenhall about 11:15 p.m. when they saw Majors running from the McAlister’s Deli on Black Road. Within minutes, the Deputies had Majors in custody. Memphis Police charged him in connection with that robbery.

Shelby County Sheriff’s Detectives, working in conjunction with Memphis investigators and Germantown Police detectives, say Majors now may be the man responsible for other robberies including one investigated by Sheriff’s Deputies on July 31st of last year in South-East Shelby County.

Just after 5 p.m., on July 31st, investigators believe it was Majors who walked into the Zaxby’s Chicken restaurant at 3821 Hacks Cross Road. He was armed with a gun and forced store employees to lie on the floor. However, before he got any money he became very agitated and ran out of the business.

Shelby County Sheriff’s Detectives reviewed the restaurant’s security camera which captured a picture of the suspect during the robbery. He matched Majors’ description.

Tonight, Antwone Majors is in the Shelby County Jail being held on $300,000 bond.
