Shelby County Man Dies In Traffic Crash

Shelby County Sheriff's Office Traffic deputies say a man was killed early today in a one-vehicle crash in the Eads community.

Deputies say Jason Ward Gillespie, 32, of Eads, was driving a white Chevrolet van south on Reed Hooker Road just after two o'clock this morning,  when the vehicle left the road and hit a tree just north of Metz Place.

Gillespie was alone in the van and no other vehicle was involved in the crash.

Traffic deputies say Gillespie was wearing his seatbelt.

Investigators say, however, speed was a factor in the crash.
