Collierville Man Killed At Shooting Range

Shelby County Sheriff’s Detectives say a Collierville man was shot to death yesterday afternoon while target shooting at an East Shelby County gun range.

The shooting happened just after 2 o’clock at the Memphis Sport Shooting Association range at 9428 Old Brownsville Road.

Detectives say Roy Thomas Latimer, 69, of Collierville, was killed after he attempted to place his pistol into a shoulder holster.

The gun discharged and the bullet struck him in the chest.  He died at the scene.

The Shelby County Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy.  However, Investigators believe Latimer died as a result of the accidental shooting.
