Final Update: Hurricane Relief Operations Command Center-Status Report

The last group of FEMA-assisted evacuees left for the Gulf Coast this morning by chartered bus and handicapped accessible vans. More than 100 “special needs” persons left the Ed Rice Community Center just after 8:30.

More than 900 FEMA-assisted evacuees are boarding an Amtrak train this evening for their trip home to the Gulf Coast. MATA buses took the evacuees to the train station from various shelters at Memphis Park Services community centers.
