Memphis Light, Gas And Water Meter-Reader Robbed Today While On Duty

Release Date: November 24, 2004

Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies are looking for two men who robbed a MLGW meter-reader in North Shelby County today.

Deputies say MLGW employee Donte M. Jones, 35, was taking utility readings at a home in the 5200 block of Brekenwood in the Northaven community just after 10 o’clock this morning.

The suspect pulled out a small wallet containing Jones’ MLGW Identification and about 80 dollars. The suspect took the money and then tossed the wallet down. He also took Jones’ MLGW communication device which doubles as a cell phone.

The suspects then got back into their car which had been pulled into the driveway at the home on Breakenwood. They left the area in a gold Toyota with tinted windows. They were last seen driving south on Bitter Creek Road Drive near Brandywine.
