Shelby County Narcotics Detectives say two people have been charged in connection with operating a methamphetamine lab from a home. Last evening, narcotics officers raided the house at 4045 Friendly Way near Kirby Parkway not far from Kirby High School.
Forty-five year old Lesley Wayne Mason and forty-two year old Wanda Sue Maiorino were taken into custody for cooking Methamphetamine in the kitchen of the home. Both face Federal narcotics charges of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine and Manufacturing of a Controlled Substance.
Officers say Wanda Sue Maiorino will also be charged with child abuse and neglect. Investigators say her 15-month-old baby was inside the house during the raid. The baby was treated and released from Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center after breathing fumes from the chemicals. The baby has been placed in the custody of the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services.
Lesley Mason is being held in Federal custody at a facility in Mason, Tennessee. Ms. Maiorino is being held at the Shelby County Jail for Women.
