Metro D.U.I. Unit Continues Effort To Stop The Sale Of Beer To Minors

Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies, Metro D.U.I. Unit Officers, and Officers with the Memphis Police Department conducted another joint-investigation this past weekend to stop the sale of alcohol and beer to minors.
Eight clerks at area convenience stores, grocery stores and liquor stores in North Memphis near Chelsea and Danny Thomas were arrested for selling alcohol to underage customers. One of the clerks was also charged with possessing a stolen pistol.
The sting was conducted this past Friday evening, March 11, 2005. Deputies and Officers went undercover into the businesses along with people under the legal drinking age of 21.
Those who sold alcohol to minors face misdemeanor charges and must report to jail to be booked and fingerprinted.
