A Millington teenager died this morning from injuries he suffered in a one- vehicle traffic crash late last night near Millington.

About 11:15 last night, Jacob Smith, 18, was driving his 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse east on Shelby Road when he lost control of the vehicle.

Traffic Deputies say Smith was rounding a curve just east of Epperson Mill Road when the vehicle ran off the road, struck a utility pole and then several fence posts.

No other persons were in Smith’s car. Deputies say Smith was not wearing his seat belt. Investigators say speeding caused the crash.
