A man was killed this morning when his motorcycle collided with a car in South-East Shelby County.
Shelby County Sheriff's Office Traffic Crash Investigators say neither the driver of the motorcycle nor the car driver had a driver's license.
Just before 9 o'clock, Ronnie Boswell, 29, of Olive Branch, Mississippi, was riding a Suzuki motorcycle north on Riverdale. As the cycle topped a hill, it collided with a car turning south onto Riverdale from Fernbank.
Deputies say the 1996 Pontiac Grand Am driven by Romeo Cayetano, 35, of Memphis, had already entered the intersection when Boswell's motorcycle struck the driver's side of the car near the left rear wheel.
Boswell was taken by helicopter to the Regional Medical Center where he died a short time later. Sheriff's investigators believe the speed of Boswell's motorcycle caused the crash.
Cayetano and a woman passenger were not injured. Deputies say charges are pending against Cayetano for driving without a license and not having car insurance.
Investigators say there was NO indication of alcohol use by either driver. This was the 2nd traffic fatality investigated by Deputies so far this year.
