Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Traffic investigators now have a better description of the vehicle involved in last Sunday night’s motorcycle crash in south-east Shelby County.

After interviewing more witnesses, Deputies now believe the vehicle involved in the crash is a dark-colored, possibly blue, older model Nissan or Mazda pick up truck. There are two distinguishing features about the truck:

  1. The truck has a homemade bed. The bed is made of wooden slats approximately 2” X 6.” There are no side rails on the truck.
  2. Additionally, the taillights on the truck bed are not factory taillights but trailer lights which have been mounted on the truck.

Below are photos of a truck that has similar features (this is not the actual truck, just an example):

About 8:45 last Sunday night, Christopher Rose, 29, of Memphis, was riding his 2007 Suzuki motorcycle south on Hacks Cross Road. As the motorcycle approached Lowrance Road, the pick up truck, traveling north on Hacks Cross Road, suddenly turned in front of the motorcycle causing it to crash.

The driver of the pick up truck refused to stop and was last seen going west on Lowrance.

Christopher Rose continues to be treated for critical injures at the Regional Medical Center.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Bureau at (901) 867-1420 or Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH (2274).
