Sheriff’s deputies charge a Memphis man involved in a hit-and-run death of motorcycle driver

A Memphis man has been charged with the hit-and-run death of a motorcycle driver in North Shelby County near the Frayser area.
Shelby County Traffic investigators say 49-year-old Jack David Terry of Memphis was killed shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday evening at the intersection of North Watkins at Millington Road. Terry was driving his Harley Davidson motorcycle west on Watkins when he was hit by a car driven by 42-year-old Daniel Lee Sears of Memphis.
Sears’ car, a Ford Focus, was traveling North on Millington Road when it hit the motorcycle. Terry was dead at the scene. Traffic investigators say a witness saw the collision and took down Sears’ license number. Sears was arrested a short time later not far from the intersection where the accident happened.
Deputies have charged Daniel Lee Sears with:
- Vehicular Homicide
- Driving Under the Influence of an Intoxicant
- Leaving the Scene of an Accident Involving Death
