Motorcycle Rider Killed in Crash Near Millington

A Millington man was killed this afternoon in North Shelby County after his motorcycle crashed.

Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Investigators say Lonnie Whitaker, 40, was driving his motorcycle northbound on Quito Road about 2:30.

That’s when Whitaker’s Yamaha motorcycle went off the roadway after it rounded a curve just north of Kerr Road.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Whitaker was airlifted to the Regional Medical Center where he died a short time after arrival.

Deputies DO NOT believe alcohol or speed were factors in the crash.
