Shelby County Sheriff's detectives met this week with Bartlett detectives about a theft from the Wal-Mart store on Highway 64. The detectives then talked to James Carter, 45, of Memphis, who was already in jail on other theft charges.

During the interrogation, detectives say Carter admitted to being involved in the robbery of two Kroger stores, one on Stage Road in Bartlett , and the other being at Trinity Commons Shopping Center in Memphis. Carter also indicated he and a partner, Walter Morialli, 24 of Memphis, who is also currently in jail, were responsible for five other burglaries of homes and businesses in Memphis and Shelby County. Memphis Police detectives were then contacted about Carter's statements and they joined in the investigation.

Sheriff's detectives say the investigative team effort between the Sheriff's Office, Bartlett and Memphis Police departments has now solved those seven crimes.
