Release Date: March 26, 2008
Prized vehicles once owned by criminals will be sold to the highest bidder this weekend. More than 70 vehicles confiscated by Sheriff’s Deputies during the past year and a half will be auctioned.
The vehicles were seized by Deputies in the Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Bureau, West Tennessee Drug Task Force and the A.L.E.R.T. Squad (Area Law Enforcement Retailers Team).
Drugs or stolen goods were found in some of the vehicles. Others were confiscated as part of a criminal’s estate.
Among the items to be auctioned are a 2004 Harley-Davidson motorcycle and an inboard ski boat. Other items belonging to Shelby County Government will also be auctioned. They include commercial trucks, heavy construction equipment and school buses.
The action will be held Saturday morning at 8 o’clock near Shelby Farms Park.
All items will be on display in a vacant area on Haley Road, just off Farm Road near the Shelby County Corrections Center.
For more information about the auction call Detective Darren Feathers with the Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Bureau at (901) 387-5971.
