Family of Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputy killed in the line of duty to attend National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Events

An estimated 25,000 people representing law enforcement agencies from around the world will be in Washington, DC next week to honor the memory officers who have been killed in the line of duty.

Jessica Selby, the widow of Shelby County Deputy George Selby, killed in December, 2002 while serving a narcotics warrant, will be in Washington, DC with other family members to attend various memorial services and activities.

Highlights of the week in Washington include:

  • May 12th at 2 p.m. (Eastern Time) The Police Unity Tour Arrival Ceremony at the Law Enforcement Memorial between 4th and 5th streets and E and F streets, NW. The event contact person can be reached at (202) 443-0030.
  • May 13th at 8:00 p.m. (Eastern Time) The 15th Annual Candlelight Vigil at the Law Enforcement Memorial. The event contact person is at (202) 737-3400.
  • May 14th at 6:00 p.m. (Eastern Time) Eighth Annual Emerald Society & Pipe Band March and Service. The event contact person is at (310) 858-0972.
  • May 15th at Noon (Eastern Time) Peace Officers Memorial Day Services will be held on the West front of the Capital Building. The event contact person is at (202) 547-1651.

 

Honor guards from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department will be participating in many of the events.
