Suspect Charged In Recent Northaven Area Murder

Release Date: August 19, 2005

Otis KilpatrickShelby County Sheriff’s Detectives have charged a man who they believe killed another man in the Northaven area back in June.

Investigators say Otis Kilpatrick, 18, who lives in the Northaven area, admitted shooting Phillip Williamson, 19, who lived in the Woodstock area. Kilpatrick has been charged with voluntary manslaughter.

That murder happened in the late night hours on June 5, 2005, outside a house in the 5200 block of Breckenwood Drive. Deputies say the shooting was sparked as a result of a neighborhood rivalry that had connections to criminal gangs.

Williamson’s death occurred after an earlier incident that same evening when another person was shot outside that same home on Breckenwood Drive.

Just days after that shooting, Sheriff’s Detectives charged Myron Threlkeld, Sr., 31, of Memphis and Tyran Dalton, 25, also of Memphis, with aggravated assault and reckless endangerment for shooting Lanessa Hall, 23, of Memphis.
