Northaven Shootings Leave One Dead, One Hurt
Release Date: June 6, 2005
A rivalry between members of two gangs led to a shootout in the Northaven area this past Saturday night. One of two victims shot died early today at the Regional Medical Center.
Sheriff Detectives and Metro Gang Unit investigators believe the man was shot in retaliation for another shooting that happened just moments before at a home located at 5200 block of Breckenwood.
Deputies say it all began shortly before 10 o’clock when three vehicles of known gang members cruised past the house. That’s when a person riding in a pickup truck shot Lanessa Hall, 23, who was in the front yard of the home. The suspect shot several times. One of the bullets stuck the woman in the ankle. She was taken to The Med and remains in stable condition.
As the caravan of vehicles drove through the neighborhood, someone from a group of people standing near the intersection of Breckenwood at North Cirlce began firing at the vehicles.
Deputies say Phillip Williamson, a passenger in a Mercury Sable, was shot. The driver of the car took him to Methodist North Hospital. After extensive interviews with the driver and others in the car, it was learned Williamson was shot after the initial shooting on Breckenwood.
Investigators have identified the victim as Phillip Williamson, 19, who lived in the 5900 block of Woodstock-Cuba Road.
Deputies spent the weekend interviewing more than 20 people about what happened, which is believed to be an on-going feud between the two gangs.
