More than 100 Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and support personnel focused their attention in North-East Shelby County neighborhoods last night. The initiative was in response to reports of home burglaries, larcenies and other crimes near Cordova, Lakeland and Arlington.
“Using our Data Smart Policing Program, we determine the day and time when crime is occurring. This approach to target crime hotspots has helped lead to a 6% reduction in crime so far this year in Shelby County,” said Shelby County Sheriff Mark Luttrell.
For several hours last night and early this morning, Deputies in the Patrol, Traffic, D.U.I., Fugitive, SWAT, Street Crimes and Reserve Bureaus conducted the enforcement effort which included traffic safety checkpoints.
As with the other crime suppression initiatives, Sheriff’s Deputies were assisted by personnel from the Shelby County Jail and volunteers with the Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Bureau.
