Shelby County Sheriff's Deputies are searching for two men who shot a man last night after breaking into his home near Raleigh.
Detectives say about 10:30, two young men wearing hooded sweatshirts, kicked in the front door of the house in the 4100 block of Allendale Cove in the Laurel Hills subdivision.
The two men immediately went upstairs to a bedroom where a 12 year-old girl and a 13 year-old boy were watching TV.
After hearing the commotion, the children’s father, Ray Perry, 39, confronted the two men who were armed with pistols. Both men then shot Perry. He was hit in the stomach and the leg. He was taken to the Regional Medical Center where he remains today in stable condition. Perry’s two children were not hurt.
Sheriff’s detectives say after the shooting, the intruders ran out of the house. It is not clear whether they left the neighborhood on foot or in a vehicle. Nothing was taken from Perry’s house.
Anyone with information about the home invasion is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH (2274) or the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office General Investigation Bureau at (901) 545-5600.
