A man has died from injuries he suffered yesterday after he lost control of his off-road motorcycle near Millington.
Deputies say Gary Covert, 43, of Covington, Tennessee, died last evening at the Regional Medical Center.
Just after noon yesterday, Covert was riding his dirt bike with other motorcycle riders beside the railroad tracks near Fite Road and Old Millington Road.
His friends say Covert lost control of his motorcycle and it flipped over.
Covert was thrown off the cycle and landed nearby in the backwaters of the Loosahatchie River.
His fellow riders and Shelby County firefighters pulled Covert out of the water. He was airlifted to The Med.
He died from his injuries last evening just after 6 p. m.
Covert was riding alone on the motorcycle and was wearing a crash helmet.
