Oklahoma Man Dies In Arlington Area Traffic Crash

Release Date: February 1, 2006

Sheriff’s Office Traffic Investigators say an Oklahoma man was killed late yesterday afternoon as he and his wife traveled through East Shelby County.

Deputies say Glenn Moody, 68, and Sylvia Moody, 67, were returning to their home in McAlester, Oklahoma, from a visit to Nashville.

Just before five o’clock yesterday afternoon, the couple was driving west bound on Interstate 40 and exited at Airline Road in Arlington.

After exiting, Mr. Moody, who was driving the car, pulled the Buick Lesabre the couple was in out into the intersection and was struck by a dump truck going north on Airline Road driven by Eunice Fayne, 49, of Brighton, Tennessee (male).

The impact killed Mr. Moody who was dead at the scene. His wife was taken the Regional Medical Center where she remains in stable condition.

Sheriff’s investigators asked for assistance from the Tennessee Highway Patrol’s Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit to conduct an inspection on the dump truck.

As a result of the inspection, Mr. Fayne was issued a citation by state troopers for not having the brakes connected to a trailer being pulled by the dump truck. No traffic charges have been placed by the Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say Mr. and Mrs. Moody both had their seat belts on. Alcohol was NOT a factor in the crash. Traffic investigators say Mr. Moody apparently pulled into the intersection without checking for other vehicles.
