“Old Fogy Robbery” Arrested

Investigators with the Safe Streets Task Force have charged the “Old Fogy Robber” in a series of convenience store robberies occurring within a 24 hrs period. On Sunday, May 20, 2007 the Mapco Express, located at 5263 South Third, the Exxon Stations located at 3201 Millbranch and 4675 South Third were robbed at gunpoint. Also, on Monday, May 21, 2007 the Mapco Express located at 2185 Winchester was robbed. It was quickly determined that the same gunman was responsible for all four business robberies. The suspect was described as a mb, in his late 40’s to mid 50’s, 6’1”, 200 plus lbs., with a very calm and polite demeanor. In each incident he was armed with a handgun.

Willie Ray Robertson male black, 63 years of age; was developed as a suspect in each of these incidents. Robertson was arrested by Shelby County Sheriff Deputies on May 21, 2007 based on information provided by SSTF Investigators.

Subsequent to Robertson’s arrest, a federal complaint was filed against him, in the Western District of Tennessee, charging him with violations of Title 18 USC Sec 1951 Hobbs Act – Business Robbery and Title 18 Sec 924(c) Use of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.
