Argument Ends In Death Of Roommate

Andrew CrumplerA Shelby County man faces a Voluntary Manslaughter charge in connection with the death of his roommate.

Detectives with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office say James Brown, 45, lived in the 5100 block of Crumpler Road in south Shelby County with his roommate, Andrew (Drew) M. Crumpler, 37. (The suspect’s name and street name ARE the same).

Investigators say the two men got into an argument regarding money about 7 o’clock this past Monday evening, October 4, 2004.

Detectives say Crumpler pushed Brown causing him to fall backwards through a glass door at the house. Brown was rushed to the hospital. However, he never regained consciousness and died last evening.

Investigators say Crumpler initially ran from the house on Monday night but turned himself in the next day.
