Release Date: June 5, 2007
In the early morning hours of June 4, 2007, the Mid-South Fugitive Task Force arrested Juan SANCHEZ at his residence in Memphis, TN. SANCHEZ had been a fugitive for fourteen years. Way back in 1993, Lexington County, South Carolina issued four warrants on SANCHEZ for Criminal Sexual Conduct with Minors. The warrants state that the victim was thirteen years old at the time of the offenses.
In January of 2007, the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task of South Carolina began working on the fugitive case for Lexington County. Their investigation led them to Memphis, and then they requested assistance from the Mid-South Fugitive Task Force. The Mid-South Fugitive Task Force is composed of members from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department, the Memphis Police Department, and the U.S. Marshals.
After the arrest in the Hickory Hill area of Memphis, SANCHEZ was transported to the Shelby County Jail, where he will face extradition back to Lexington County, South Carolina to face the Criminal Sexual Misconduct charges. An investigation will also attempt to determine if Juan SANCHEZ is an illegal alien.
