Sheriff’s Office Detectives Searching for Two Men Who Robbed South-East Shelby County Convenience Store

Release Date: June 26, 2003

Shelby County Sheriff’s Detectives need the public’s help to identify two men who robbed a South-East Memphis Grocery Store recently. The Schnuck’s Grocery Express store at 5274 Riverdale was robbed about 9:30 p.m. on June 6, 2003.

Store employees say the first man entered the store wearing a mask portraying former President Ronald Reagan. He was carrying a large bag, possibly a pillowcase that was blue and white. The man pointed a pistol at the clerks and demanded money.

While the employees were putting money into the bag, another suspect who was already in the store joined the masked suspect at the cash register. He did not appear to be armed. Both men then ran out of the store. No one was hurt.

Detectives say the first suspect, who was wearing the Ronald Regan mask, is a black man, in his late teens or twenties, stands about 5 feet 10 and weighs about 150 pounds. The second suspect was also a black man, about the same height and build. He was wearing a red pullover shirt. A video camera also recorded the event and a copy can be made available to your news agency.

Two pictures of the video of the suspects are available for viewing and download in JPG format. These are high quality resolution photo downloads, therefore for low bandwidth users this would take some time.

Anyone having information about the robbery is asked to contact the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division at 545-5600 or Crime-Stoppers at 528-CASH.
