Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Charged in Murder Case Relieved of Duty

Sergeant Chris Jones of the Shelby County Sheriff's Office has been relieved of duty as the Memphis Police Department investigates a murder charge filed against Jones today.
Sergeant Jones, 39, is currently assigned to the West Tennessee Drug Task Force. Task force officers patrol the interstates to help keep illegal drugs from being shipped through Shelby County.
Jones has been with the Sheriff’s Office since 1991. Besides the West Tennessee Drug Task Force, he has served on the Narcotics, DUI, Fugitive, and Patrol Bureaus at the Sheriff’s Office.
“The Sheriff’s Office is conducting an administrative investigation about the circumstances that led to Sergeant Jones’ arrest. This has been a tragic event for the victims and their families,” said Shelby County Sheriff Mark H. Luttrell.
