Charges Filed In Weekend Drug Raid Shoot-Out With Deputies

Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Detectives have charged a Frayser man with seven counts of Aggravated Assault in connection with a weekend drug raid involving Narcotics Deputies.

Deputies say Johnathan Drake, 26, who lives at 3563 Sutton Drive, was the person who fired at seven Shelby County Narcotics Deputies after they entered the home in the Frayser area just after nine o’clock yesterday morning.

Acting on a tip, Deputies went to the house with a search warrant to look for drugs. Deputies identified themselves and called for someone at the house to open the front door. When no one opened the door, they forced their way into the house.

Investigators say as Deputies entered the house, Drake shot at the Deputies in two episodes of gunfire. No one was injured in the brief shoot-out. Investigators found marijuana, an assault rifle and a pistol inside the house.

Drake has been charged with:

  • Seven (7) counts-Aggravated Assault
  • Theft of Property Under $500 for possessing a stolen assault rifle
  • Possession with Intent to Deliver and/or Sell Marijuana

Johnathan Drake’s sister, Tabitha Drake, 26, was also charged for possessing marijuana. The other four people in the house who were initially taken into custody were not charged.
