Fugitive Responsible for Weekend Shooting Now In Custody

Zachery Terrell BarrettShelby County Sheriff’s Detectives say a fugitive believed to be responsible for a shooting last Friday evening in South-East Shelby County has turned himself in.

Investigators say 18-year-old Zachery Terrell Barrett contacted the Sheriff’s Department and surrendered this morning in connection with the shooting of 18-year-old Bradley Smith. Detectives say the shooting happened after Smith and Terrell argued over money outside a home at 3303 Spring Shadow Drive near Tchulahoma at Shelby Drive.

Detectives say Smith was seriously injured in the shooting. Bradley Smith is still in the Med in critical condition. Shelby County Sheriff’s Detectives say Zachery Barrett had been a fugitive for violating his probation at the time of the shooting.
