Investigators say Deputy Amber Roettgen, 27, (pronounced RETCH-IN) the driver of the vehicle, and a Reserve Deputy, Kristoffer Billington, 26, were traveling south on Highway 51 near Old Millington Road about 10 o’clock last night.

As their squad car entered the intersection, Deputy Roettgen says a light colored vehicle pulled into their path from Old Millington Road. She swerved to miss the vehicle and lost control of the squad car.

The car left the roadway and hit a tree. Both Officer Roettgen and Officer Billington had to be rescued from the squad car. Deputy Roettgen suffered a broken collar bone, cracked pelvis and had cuts to her arm. She remains at The Regional Medical Center this afternoon. Deputy Billington was treated and released from the hospital.

Traffic investigators say both officers had their seat belts on and were not speeding or using the blue lights and siren. Deputies are still looking for the other car involved in the incident.
