Sheriff’s Deputies Arrest St. Louis Murder Suspect

John SchlemmerA St. Louis man wanted for killing another man in that city last year was arrested by two Shelby County Sheriff’s Office detectives this week.

Sergeant Faith Cunningham and Sergeant Chris Harris received information that John Anthony Schlemmer, 26, might be visiting a friend at the Regional Medical Center.

Yesterday morning about 10:30, the two detectives went to the hospital and found Schlemmer in the patient’s room.  When confronted by the two Sheriff’s Office detectives, he willingly surrendered.

St. Louis Police detectives say Schlemmer is homeless and they believe he killed another homeless man in May of 2005.  On May 18th last year, Investigators found the body of Nathan Doughty, 47, in a wooded area near his shanty.  He had been beaten to death.

John Schlemmer was taken yesterday back to St. Louis to face the murder charge.
