Shelby County Sheriff’s Office detectives are looking for two men who may be responsible for breaking into more than 40 vehicles and several homes in Memphis and Shelby County during the past several months.

Deputies believe Marcellus Mason 25, and Brandon Hughes, 28, both of Memphis, are responsible for a crime spree that began this past fall which has continued as late as January 5th and 6th when three vehicles were broken into at Shelby Farms.  While investigating those break-ins deputies linked Mason and Hughes to many other burglaries.

Earlier this month, deputies say 30 vehicles were burglarized during the Liberty Bowl game and more vehicles were burglarized at several restaurants throughout Memphis and Shelby County.

Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office Detective and Street Crimes Bureaus raided Mason’s home on Bellevue last night and Hughes’ apartment yesterday morning.  Deputies found a variety of stolen cell phones, electronic equipment and other items.

Many of the stolen goods have not yet been tracked to their owners.  Any persons who have had their vehicles burglarized during the past couple of months are asked to contact Sheriff’s detectives.

Both Hughes and Mason are known to travel together and could be driving a black 1995 Mercedes Benz with tinted windows and chrome wheel covers.  It has a Shelby County license plate: 696-LYS.

Anyone with information about Brandon Hughes and Marcellus Mason is asked to call the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office at (901) 379-7625 or Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH (2274).
