Students Who Say “NO” Could Earn Cash

Eighth grade school students from across Tennessee have an opportunity to win a cash award in an essay contest titled, “Why I Will Say No To Alcohol and Drugs.”
The annual contest is sponsored by the Tennessee Law Enforcement Officers' Association. For the past nine years the association has honored students through the essay competition to sway children away from the dangers of alcohol and drugs.
Several Deputies with the Shelby County Sheriff's Office are members of the Tennessee Law Enforcement Officers' Association. Deputies want 8th graders from public or private schools in Memphis and Shelby County to enter the contest. Home-schooled students are also eligible.
