Students Needed for Sheriff’s Office Citizens’ Academy

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications for those who would like to be part of the “Citizens’ Academy.” The class will begin April 8th and run through June 17th.
“The eleven-week course will be held on Tuesday evenings and on a few Saturdays. Students will see demonstrations, participate in group discussions and attend presentations by officers and staff members from the various divisions,” said Sheriff Mark H. Luttrell, Jr.

The evening class sessions begin at 6:00 and end at 9:00. Saturday classes will be conducted in the mornings and/or afternoons.
Students must be 21 years-old, live or work in Shelby County and pass a criminal background check.
Applications will be accepted through March 14, 2008. They can be picked up at the Sheriff’s Training Academy at 993 Dovecrest Road or can be mailed by calling (901) 387-5750.
