Two of three burglary suspects who rammed their car into a Sheriff’s Office Patrol Deputy’s cruiser are in custody. Sheriff’s detectives, with assistance from the Patrol, SWAT, Criminal Intelligence and Street Crimes Bureaus, have charged Renishia Bailey,19, and Maurice Young, 26, both of Memphis, in connection with this past Tuesday’s attack on Sheriff’s Deputy Donald McDonald.
Deputies arrested Bailey yesterday for driving the rented Kia sedan that slammed into Deputy McDonald’s squad car on the morning of July 22. Maurice Young, a passenger in her car, was arrested on July 23rd. The other man has not been caught.
Deputy McDonald had surprised the suspects after they burglarized the home at 5458 Sungrove Circle North in northeast Shelby County. Deputies are still looking for a semiautomatic Tech 9 gun taken during the burglary.
A 9 mm pistol has been located along with almost 100 other items detectives believe were stolen from other homes. Burglary victims should contact Sergeant Ray Sides with the Sheriff’s Office General Investigation Bureau at (901) 545-5600 to claim the goods.
Sheriff’s Deputies today also arrested Deseree Allen, 20, of Memphis. Allen lives with Maurice Young and was taken into custody as she attended Young’s preliminary hearing.
A rare and expensive arrowhead collection was found in Allen’s home in Orange Mound. Detectives say the arrowheads were taken in a recent home burglary in northeast Shelby County. Allen has been charged with Theft of Property $10,000-$60,000.
