Teenager Struck by Vehicle in North East Shelby County

A 14 year-old boy was critically hurt tonight as he walked with several other boys along Godwin Road in the Brunswick area.

Just before 7 p.m. the boy was walking west on Godwin near Osborntown Road with three other boys, including his 12 year-old brother.

The victim and another boy were walking in the street. The other two boys were on a walking path near the road. The road does not have sidewalks.

Christopher Jones, 27, of Arlington, was driving a Ford F 150 pick up west on Godwin when his truck struck the teenager. The other three boys were not hurt.

Jones, nor his passenger, Daniel Golden, 25, of the Brunswick area, was hurt.

Jones said there was no way he could avoid hitting the teenager.  There are no street lights in the area where the boy was struck.

The 14 year-old was taken by helicopter to The Med in critical condition.  No charges have been filed.
