One Teenager Killed, Two Other Teens Critically Injured In Car Crash
Release Date: April 9, 2004
Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies say a 17 year-old boy was killed and his two passengers were critically hurt today when his car ran off of a rural road and crashed into a tree in north Shelby County.
Investigators say Eric “Josh” Foust, of Bartlett, was driving west on Pleasant Ridge Road near Ricks Road about 11:30 this morning when he lost control of his Honda Civic. Officers say the teenager had just rounded a curve when his car left the roadway and hit a tree.
Foust and a 15 year-old girl in the front seat were thrown from the car. Another 15 year-old girl in the backseat was trapped and had to be rescued.
The two passengers remain in critical condition this evening at the Regional Medial Center.
Investigators say none of the teenagers was wearing a seat belt.
Officers say excessive speed caused the deadly crash. There was no indication of alcohol use.
