Teens Charged In Cordova Area Shooting and Burglary
Release Date: October 24, 2006
Shelby County Sheriff’s Office detectives have charged four teenagers in connection with two recent crimes in the Cordova area. Three boys, ages 17, 15, and 14 have been charged with Aggravated Assault for a shooting a man this past Saturday night.
Just after midnight Deputies were called to 9319 Helmsley. They found Christopher Watson, 20, also of Cordova, in the front yard with two gun shot wounds. Watson was taken to the Regional Medical Center where he is recovering from his injuries. Investigators say an argument between the teenagers led to the shooting.
During the course of the investigation, detectives learned that two of the three boys involved in the shooting might be connected to a burglary in Cordova the day before.
Yesterday, detectives linked the two boys with another teenager, a 16 year-old boy, to the burglary last Friday at 9010 Success Cove. Deputies say the three boys broke into the home about noon and stole clothes and other items. They have been charged with Aggravated Burglary.
The four teenagers involved in both the shooting and the home burglary remain in custody at Memphis Juvenile Court.
