Release Date: June 28, 2006
A man wanted for allegedly killing a person in Fayetteville, Arkansas almost a year ago in that community gave himself up to Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies yesterday afternoon. John Stanley Secrest, 21, of Fayetteville, surrendered to Fugitive Squad Deputies at 201 Poplar.
Last week Shelby County Deputies joined in the search for Secrest with the Fayetteville, Arkansas Police Department after they located a car last week in Collierville believed to be involved in the incident last year in Fayetteville.
Investigators retrieved DNA evidence from the 2004 Mustang that has been linked to Secrest.
According to the Fayetteville Police Department, Karthikeyan Sennimalai, 28, was killed in the early morning hours of July 2, 2005.
Investigators believe Secrest lost control of his car on a Fayetteville street and ran over Sennimalai as he walked along a sidewalk.
John Stanley Secrest is being held at the Shelby County Jail without bond.
