Weekend Motorcycle Crash Kills Olive Branch Woman

Release Date: August 22, 2005

Shelby County Sheriff’s Traffic Deputies say a woman was killed this past Saturday (August 20) when the motorcycle she was driving was hit by another car in South-East Shelby County.

The crash happened just after 12:30 p.m. Deputies say Alison Pae, 43, of Olive Branch, Mississippi, was riding a Honda 1300 motorcycle north bound on Hacks Cross.

As Ms. Pae approached Lowrance Road, a 2004 Camry traveling south on Hacks Cross Road driven by Demetria Monix, 35, of Memphis, turned left to enter an apartment community.

Her car collided with the motorcycle. Ms. Pae was critically injured and was taken to The Med where she died a short time later.

Ms. Monix, and her four-year-old son who was riding in the car with her, were not hurt. Ms. Monix will be charged with Failure to Yield--Left Turn.
